Pholistoma auritum, or Blue Fiestaflower, is native to the Southwest - California, Arizona and Nevada. It is a scraggly annual that grows in many dry locations, include mountain talus, desert scrub, open woodlands, chaparral and foothills. It blooms from early to late spring, with blue-purple flowers.

This plant looks similar to some other members of the genus. More information will be posted at a later time about differentiating other species.
